Senior Vice President, Technology and Strategic Innovation

 

Dr. Sarah B. Hiza is Lockheed Martin’s Senior Vice President of Technology and Strategic Innovation, leading the company’s enterprise-wide technology strategy and investments. In this role, she is responsible for shaping advanced national security capabilities across Lockheed Martin’s business areas and overseeing Lockheed Martin Ventures, which invests in early-stage companies in strategically vital domains such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, hypersonics, advanced materials, and space.

Prior to this role, Dr. Hiza served as Vice President of Engineering & Technology for Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS), where she led more than 14,000 engineers and scientists. She drove efforts to modernize engineering practices through an all-digital development environment and fostered the advancement of disruptive technologies to deliver innovative solutions across mission-critical programs.

Earlier in her career at Lockheed Martin, Dr. Hiza held key executive roles including Vice President and General Manager of Strategic and Missile Defense Systems at Lockheed Martin Space, responsible for a broad portfolio of strategic deterrence, missile defense, and hypersonic strike programs. She also led the Fleet Ballistic Missile program and served as Director of Propulsion, Structures, Ordnance & Controls.

Before joining Lockheed Martin in 2015, Dr. Hiza spent 11 years at Orbital ATK (now part of Northrop Grumman), where she built deep technical and programmatic expertise in energetic materials and propulsion systems.

Dr. Hiza holds a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Virginia Tech and a doctorate in polymer science from The University of Akron. She is a named inventor on one patent and has authored seven national publications.
